End of Program Student Learning Outcomes (EOPSLOs)

  • The Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner program has instilled in me the academic knowledge required to deliver high caliber healthcare to a wide variety of patients. I have listed below the end of program student learning outcomes and how I have met those goals via my academic coursework, clinical training, and professional development.

1. Synthesize nursing science with knowledge from other disciplines

  • I have utilized nursing science with the advanced knowledge in pharmacology, pathophysiology, and health assessment to support my clinical decision making process. This practice has been essential during my clinical rotations in which i am able to diagnose and manage acute and chronic healthcare conditions.

 

2. Evaluate ethical and legal dilemmas in healthcare

  • This program has prepared me to recognize and address ethical and legal issues involving patient care. I have learned to maintain patient confidentiality, informed consent, and ethical decision making while adhering to professional standards and scope of practice guidelines.

3. Employ effective communication and collaboration

  • Through clinical practice I have learned the importance of clear Conscise communication. Collaboration with other interdisciplinary healthcare teams is essential in coordinating plans of care that improve patient outcomes.

4. Analyze health promotion and culturally competent care

  • My clinical experiences have strengthened my ability to analyze and implement health promotion strategies across the lifespan. I have provided culturally competent care by recognizing the unique beliefs, values, and needs of diverse populations, particularly in rural communities, and tailoring education and interventions to improve patient engagement and outcomes.

 

5. Technology and Health Information Systems

  • I have assumed responsibility for utilizing electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support tools, and telehealth technologies to enhance patient care. These tools have enabled me to improve documentation accuracy, support clinical decision-making, and increase access to care for underserved populations.

  • I have demonstrated leadership and accountability by engaging in discussions surrounding healthcare policy, particularly those impacting advanced practice nurses and access to care in rural settings.   • I have critically appraised current literature from nursing and other disciplines to guide clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.
